The patented ingredient DNF-10® is an active fraction obtained after protein hydrolysis of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, a yeast species used for thousands of years in baking, fermented food and beverage manufacturing processes. 

The manufacturing of DNF-10® involves enzymatic proteolysis and a selection of peptides with a molecular weight  <10kDa after an ultrafiltration step. The material is then spray-dried to obtain a dried powder.

The mechanism of action of DNF-10® on the mediator of satiety has been studied in vivo in animal models. The benefits of the ingredient in the reduction of food intake and improvement of body composition have been confirmed with interventional clinical trials.

Mechanism of action

DNF-10®: decreasing food intake

Appetite is dependent on both short- and long-term mechanisms of hormonal regulation. 

Serum levels of ghrelin change according to the level of fullness of our stomach when leptin, secreted over a 24-hour cycle by our adipose tissue, is regulated over the long term according to the fat mass; the more adipose tissue a healthy subject has, the higher the secretion of leptin. 

Just before consumption of main meals, food intake is physiologically triggered by increased levels of ghrelin and maintained levels of leptin. DNF-10® significantly lowers ghrelin secretion before meals, and contributes to maintain the release of leptin from adipocytes. 

The action of DNF-10® on those 2 hormones of appetite regulation is concomitant with a reduction in the secretion of the neuropeptide Y (NPY), the neuromodulator of appetite.

Satiety enhancer

Subjects supplemented with DNF-10® decrease their caloric intake significantly after the first weeks of supplementation.

After 2 months, the daily caloric intake drops by 600 kcal.

The 3 groups of macronutrients are significantly impacted: subjects reduce their calorie counts from lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates. After a few weeks of consuming DNF-10, subjects have a reduced appetite for sweets. 

Body weight loss

Weight loss is significant from the first month of supplementation with DNF-10®. Moreover, 100% of the weight lost is from fat mass, leading to a reduction of 6% of the fat mass ratio.

Anthropometric parameters

The change in  body composition is confirmed by computed tomography. The total abdominal fat mass of the subjects  is significantly reduced by 5% with DNF-10®. Waist circumference is reduced by 5 cm with the supplementation.
